We've spent a good few days trying to put together a few final touches before we tackle some more complex harder problems with the app and website (notably the MyBar feature and videos). Lets cut to the chase, so heres the changelog for the app from 3.21 to 3.25:
  • If your typing in search, or mybar search or a couple of other areas we hide the footer. It was taking up too much retail space and isn't needed when you are typing
  • We've added a tasting numbers count to the Account menu item
  • More textual content for empty states to help with onboarding for those features
  • Changed Cocktail Colin to add in 'per month' so users realise they get free Q&A's per month, not as a one shot
  • Tasting notes modal has been improved for current tasting notes. Swish!
  • We've added a great little bit of fun, that was first asked of us 4 (!!!0 years ago. Shake to mix. Enable it in your account and now you can shake the app to be taken to a random cocktail (that you can make). Just like shaking a little cocktail shaker :) We've got some ideas to gamify this more in the future, but for now its a real little bit of fun!
  • When searching, if it finds more than 10 possible cocktails it has a 'show all results' where we show all the results with that text in
  • Moved 'made with' above 'listmania' in the cocktail search results. Its what people use a lot more so wanted to bring it up a little.
  • Search results are now remembered as you navigate through the app. So if you search, find a cocktail, load it up, then click on search again your results are still shown
  • Cocktail Connie / Cocktail Colin now have memory and show you your previous conversations with them (if you've had any)
  • Changed some UI in the upgrade notification and pil box, and also if you're a premium member we've added a subtle bottom bar to the header bar in premium colours
  • In the Account section, theres now a 'Leave us a review' box (that you can toggle off and not show again).
  • We've also made the buttons on account header larger, and when saving your account, it goes back to your Account page upon save, with a much more obvious dialog message box
  • We've added in the meta data of 'Created by' (if we know it) to the cocktail meta. We want to highlight this even more in upcoming releases, but for now we show you that information.
  • Replying to a comment hides the core comment box. Before it was just taking up a heap of space and confusing users. This way is much sicker and streamlined and gives the user room to make a comment
  • A heap of other small but subtle UI touches and textual changes, and some other minor bugs squished throughout to just ensure we're keeping the app fresh and working for you all
And now we can hopefully just leave the app sit for a little bit, as we really work on the next generation of cocktail creation. Version 4 hopefully coming to you in the first quarter of this year.
